Fiesta de los Spurs Run Race Description
April 27th
Race Start 6:30 pm
Race Start: Intersection of Evergreen and Main St.
Race Finish: TBD
Spurs Give, the official nonprofit of the San Antonio Spurs, is partnering with Fiesta® San Antonio to host the annual Fiesta de los Spurs Run. Formally known as the Fiesta Fandango, this "fun run" takes place right before the night parade, Fiesta® Flambeau and gives runners the chance to run (or walk) the 2.8 mile Fiesta Parade route while being cheered on by the crowd along the streets.
Fiesta de los Spurs translates to Spurs Party – which is exactly how we will be asking our community to join us in celebrating the end of our 50th Anniversary season. As a nod to the foundation's past fundraising gala, the run this year will be themed Tux n Tennies! Runners are encouraged to dress up in formal wear paired with their tennis shoes to run through the crowd and celebrate during the post-run party at Legacy Park. Best dressed runners will have a chance to win a prize during the post-run costume contest!
Following the run, participants can expect live music with special guest appearances, engaging photo opportunities, chances to win exclusive memorabilia, and food and drink from local San Antonio vendors while celebrating 50 years of San Antonio Spurs basketball.
General Registration (Silver Level) fee includes:
- A t-shirt (WHILE SUPPLIES LAST), medal and race bib, race day packet with giveaways and access to food and drink specials at the post-race party
- Spurs branded finisher’s medals for the first 1,000 people to cross the finish line and special edition 50th Anniversary finisher medals for the first 400 runners.
Proceeds from the race will support San Antonio’s youth through Spurs Give. Spurs Give works to strengthen and serve the community through impactful programming, player engagements and community investments that enrich the lives of youth and those around them. The nonprofit runs numerous programs throughout the city, from park renovations, to the Spurs Youth Basketball League, to free literacy and STEM programs.

Parking and Transportation:
As you may expect the logistics for this event are a challenge. With a staging of a parade the size of Texas and a running event to start it off, the logistics of getting to the starting line and a way to get home can be complex. We suggest parking near Legacy Park and using the provided free bus transportation to the starting line or a ride-share option.
Free bus transportation will be running from the Legacy Park area to the starting line from 4pm until the last shuttle leaves at 5:30 pm.
About Spurs Give:

Way better than last year
The race was about 100 times better than last year. Having the buses right at the park was great. The bus dropped close enough to the start line. The race finish was great. Fun environment. Not sure why there is no free beer for racers (at least one free beer would be nice). The medal received was very nice. Again, the group did a much better job than last year. Oh - one other comment. The packet pickup prior to the race is challenging. Getting to the AT&T Center and Toyota Field is not very convenient. Why not highlight the new ROCK at La Cantera and have a pick up there? I know it might not be done by next year but way easier for alot of folks to get to.

Go Runners Go!
This was a great race! Well organized, really cool shirt, medal and swag. The cheering crowd was a big motivator! Thanks to all!

Loved this event! It was a really fun environment to be in, and it's a cool way to be involved in the parade while supporting a good cause. Ultimately a lot of fun, would love to do it next year!

Wow! What an experience :) Parking was just perfect and right across from Packet Pickup ! A short walk got me to Milan Park right between Market Square and Santa Rosa Children's hospital where the Air Conditioned Greyhound Bus was already there doing it's route to very near the start of the race near San Antonio college:) While walking to the race start I was able to see how hard the Bands, Floats and all other parade marchers were preparing for the Parade. Everyone was upbeat and there was excitement everywhere as the runners were taking care of last minute jitters to run the race route. Everyone in the route knew that it was the Fiesta De Los Spurs run that would "Kick Off" the Flambeau Parade:) So we ran our "Hearts Out" and we waved and high-fived parade goers along the way. And everywhere we passed we heard folks shouting our numbers and encouraging us to "Keep On Going" as well as many words of encouragement like "You Can Do It" and "Way To Go Number ____ " :) The route was shaded in many sections as well as curvy and "down hilly" :) I have never every heard cheers for runners from both sides of the street and for miles-that helped lots of runners not only keep on going but also going faster. The amount of excitement was Infinite at the finish where we received our beautiful and huge finisher's medals:) From there it was just a hop-skip and a jump back to Legacy Park under the Shade of the incredible Glass Frost Tower:) where I parked:) There at Legacy park one could take in some refreshments, take Fiesta selfies and even enjoy some of the best ever BBQ at Pinkerton's :) All in All it was a most enjoyable event and I'm sure to do this all over again:) My Hat Goes Off to Soler's Sports Race Management and to Spur's Give for putting on yet another Signature Event for Fiesta:)

Race
I just wish we ran the same route as the whole parade. My family and some other runners families were seating in at the beginning and end of parade so they don’t get to see me or their love ones run. So after I got my metal I decided to finish the rest of the route so my family and friends could see me run.

Fiesta Spurs Run
The only area of improvement needed is the course prep, hard to keep thousand of parade goers off the course. Food and music is TOP NOTCH! A GREAT fiesta run.
