This race is a great way to kick off the new year with lots of friends and tons of fun!
Great race...great course, good food, plenty of beverages, great prizes, good music, awesome swag.
Beautiful course, well organized race, lots of great food and drinks, fun after party. Will definitely be doing this again next year!
I greatly appreciated the food, drinks, pre-race snacks like fruit for those of us who has too much of La Cruda to eat breakfast, and the course was very well marked and had plenty of hyrdration and race official support. And the race was pretty much exactly 3.10 miles, or 5K. Other races struggle with precision. Only suggestion ... even with a long line, could the race still started at 10 and the late folks just allowed to pass the starting line a little late. I've been allowed to join in as late as
The race had a great location, easy to find, and ample amount of parking. The race and course itself was well organized with markers everywhere.
Great race! Hope y'all have it again next year, I'll definitely sign up!
This was my first time participating in the race and I really enjoyed it. The route was enjoyable and it was very well organized! It was a great way to start off the new year and I look forward to participating again next year.
I convinced 5 of my friends to run a 5K on New Years day. They agreed even though they would all be at my NYE party 😂 We showed up, froze, and ran. No regrets and we plan to do it again next year. Very fun event. Well organized and the course wasn't bad.
This is a great run to start the new year. Good course,
Truly enjoyed everything about it! La Cruda 5K will definitely be an every year thing for me!
Great first time experience! Happy birthday Tony! My hope is to do one 5k a month.
Fun race Great course Best after party Best food Best drink Great way to start new year..
Great race! The course was marked well. Love the vendors that come out for this race and the “swagâ€. The FB posts leading up to this race make it fun also! (Would only add that having water right at the finish without having to search for it would make it better.)
Love Hillotes!!!! Helotes is my favorite to run. Great course my only adjustment may have been the hilly part up Antonio first at the beginning of the course. Start on time and let the other runners catch up if late registering. Or separate pre from /late Lastly my time never showed up which is odd because I preregistered and my friend registered day of and hers did. No biggie. Not like I’m Boston competitive but curious how it matches my watch. Will definitely recommend to others and will run ag
VERY WELL PUT TOGETHER AND VERY FRIENDLY PEOPLE!
What a way to start the new year! Well organized, nice course, great after party! Will run this race again!
This was my first race to participate in. I just recently moved here from Arizona and thought what a great way to welcome the new yr in. I was very impressed from the start to the finish. I plan on doing this race every New year. The after party was fantastic. I picked up my packet the morning of. I wish that pick up could have been in Helotes as I am still overwhelmed by the highway traffic. I give this race 5 stars.. Job well done.
Overall a fun race to celebrate the New Year! It was just super cold but otherwise a great race and post race goodies! I’ll be back again. 😅
Had a blast! A fantastic way to kick off the New Year!
I do dozens of 5K's and mud runs a year, but this was my first time for La Cruda. This race was very well organized, packet pick up a breeze, and the swag was terrific! Pre race gathering was fun with great music and parking was easy peasy. Post race food, drinks, and an awesome finisher medal makes La Cruda my new favorite annual race!
Tony hit it out of the park again this year. Well organized, started on time, fantastic course, wide enough for all the participants, & great venue for the after party.
Always a fun race and a great time celebrating after. Really enjoyed the music, libations and hands down the best menudo I’ve had all year! Seriously, great job by all. See you next year!
A great course, good race support, finisher medals and great after party! I drive from Austin to do this race! Highly recommend!
This is a good race to start off the year. Good start time and route. Location is a plus. Good communication throughout the year is done through facebook. I will continue to do this race next year and years after that.
Great run w fun crowd. Good dj and food after. I loved that it start time was 10am
Was well organized, everyone was encouraging all us newbies, great time.
Great race. Awesome staff. Stay for the after party.
I ran the the first 2 years alone. Last year my sister supported me and volunteered. This year my daughter & nieces cake to support as well. I know the covid-19 has made a lot if changes & placed many restrictions, but i really missed the variety of alcoholic beverages this year. The staff & run still always great!
Loved the great time after the race. The start time of 10am was perfect for a New Years Day. The Den in La Vernia was fantastic!! Can’t wait to start 2022 out with La Cruda run!!
Never fails to be a great race. Plenty of people but it didn’t feel overly crowded. Course has 2 out and backs but never felt boring. We always have a great experience. Runners cheering each other on and great camaraderie. Plenty of food and drinks afterwards. Having it back at Helotes was much better than the other location. I think the only issue was restrooms for females (but they always have lines).
What makes this race so great is getting to start the year surrounded by your run family and all your cheerleaders. Its the best way to start the year!
Great group to put this on. Well planned and organized. Party afterwards is always fun. Would place police officers at turn around as others were saying some vehicles drove through the area pretty going pretty fast.
I really enjoyed this race, everything about it was phenomenal; the atmosphere, environment, the people, I just loved it alot!!
What a beautiful venue ! There was plenty to do both before and after the event. This event was organized by seasoned professionals! Even though I just starting doing 5ks 6 months ago I had become accustomed to finishing in the top 4 for my age bracket but this 5k was so competitive that it brought me back down to earth-thanks for that :) Also, the photos were amazing and while inspecting them I realized some of my "running form" mistakes-I appreciate that from y'all. I will definitely be recommending this to others and I look forward to kicking off the new year with this race :) Thanks for the memories :)
This is an awesome race to start the year! A good way to wake up and start early on the goals with some awesome people.
Always enjoy this 5K! Who doesn’t want to start a new year doing something good for their body? Great location, great start time and such cute shirts & medals!!!
The race was well organized and nice alternate course. The volunteers were pleasant at the sample tents. Very good race to begin a new year
I volunteered in 2022 and had so much fun. I decided to run and volunteer for 2023. The energy and people are so much fun! Can’t wait for the next one! Great job Tony and Lisa!
Great organization, sponsors, and race! Had a great time. The course this time wasn’t as good as the other 2 we did but they stated will be better course in 2024. Already signed up for 2024 race.
Registration and Packet Pickup was so easy. The venue is in Old Town Helotes so it's like running a 5k in the Old West. The course was well marked and simple without surprises. Parking was so convenient and the atmosphere at the venue included great music, a variety of vendors promoting running and running products, a great master of ceremonies, and immediate timing results by IAAP timing. This race is the best race with which to "Run In" the new year. Oh, and yes there was plenty of Menudo-the true hangover cure ! I'll definitely be doing this race next year :)
This Race always keeps me in check on New Years Eve and always has a great vibe, great drinks and food. Live seeing my running family on the Firat day of the year
First time to do this run and I plan on making it annual event!
The race was a lot of fun, the starting line was gravel so a few of us slipped, I would look into putting mats down next time or moving the finish/start line to the road. Overall, great event, good energy and will do it again next year!
Great run we will do it again next year. Loved the crowd along the way. Tony puts on a great race as always. -Guevara Fam
This run is always enjoyable. It's nice watching the event get larger each year.
This race was so much fun. Very well-organized, family friendly and loved the after party perks.
I enjoyed the race- it’s gotten really popular though so the double loops are kinda an issue with that many people- just in my opinion. Love The race though! It’s always fun and lots of great things after the race too!
Great race!! Need a bigger meeting hangout area.
I had a nice time and the course was fine. Disappointed to hear about rude runners though.
I think this is a great run. I’m personally opposed to a two lap route. The after party area was a little too crowded. It was great seeing a lot of runners getting ready to kickoff their new goals.
The most impressive 5K run I've attended! I drove in from Corpus Christi, Texas, 2 1/2 hours away and it was well worth my drive. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I was part of a vibrant community. The atmosphere was electric, like walking into a New Year's after-party! The excitement was contagious, with amazing vendors, delicious food, and a sense of camaraderie that made me feel like I'd known everyone for years. To top it off, we even got to celebrate Tony's birthday together, which felt like a true celebration among old friends. A 5K experience that's more like a party than a race! Can't wait to come back next year!
This race is my favorite tradition for January 1! I feel motivated and accomplished while still being able to have such a fun time with friends and family. It’s the perfect way to start the year on the right foot.
Awesome event. Very good after party. Participant capping, topped.
Great turn out! However, loop races are not fun and can get crowded trying to pass up slow joggers of walkers that don’t more to the right. Also I love the food and drinks but maybe next time spread out the tents so the food line is not a chock point with all the other tents or people stopping to talk. It was hard to navigate around people just to get food or drinks. Great MC, great organizer, great food and drinks, love the soft shirt.
The course was a bit dangerous to have fast and slow smashing into each other. The same out and back twice was boring and not conducive to a race atmosphere. Have a run lane and a walk lane if you choose to do the same course again because the dodge and weave only works for so long.
I loved the menudo, sausage, food and drinks. The course was easy enough and not too hilly. I like that the fast people were upfront. I look forward to running it again in 2026. Everything you do for the running community is awesome and so appreciated. Muchísimas gracias amigo.
Loved it! Everything was well organized and perfect!
First time running La Cruda, I loved the corse but it can definitely improve with an out and back simply because I catch up and pass so many walkers a couple of times and have to try and get around them without crashing into them
This is one of the most organized races anywhere. It’s a festive run that all runners really enjoy. I’ve already signed up for the 2026 run.
I wasn’t feeling my best, so I ended up walking most of this race instead of my usual pace. As an experienced runner, I’m always mindful of faster runners, especially on a multi-loop course, and I make it a point to stay to the right as much as possible. Aside from that, this race is hands down one of the best! The camaraderie, the celebration of the new year, and the fun, party-like atmosphere afterward make it a five-star experience. I’m so grateful for the effort and dedication it takes to organize an event like this and give us runners such a fantastic way to kick off the year.
Was great race. It has grown so much since I ran the first year in 2018. I would suggest going back to the route like 2018 or making it out and back. The two loops were bottled neck at times with the walkers not wanting to step aside for the runners especially the fast runners. Only complaint that I have is people not picking up their dog poop from the road and people stepping in it. If I can pick it so can those pesky people That is not the race directors fault . Still an outstanding race.
Overall a fun race, just competitive enough for the runner who likes to test themself, but fun for families and the recreational runner and walker. Two things that could be better; MORE porta potties!!! For over a thousand ppl ( include volunteers and support ppl!) there were NOT enough and I was not the only one uncomfortable during the race and having to ‘hold it’. And the stroller/walk in a group crowds could have been been better controlled at the turn rounds - a few of us commented that we really had to go around and dodge ppl when we were running. The support staff and race personnel were wonderful for the most part tho, and it was an overall very fun event
I enjoyed running 🏃♀️ this race 😊
This is a great race! It is always a fun way to start the New Year!
This race is a great way to kick off the new year with lots of friends and tons of fun!
