When you race with PMP Pals for the One-in-a-Million 5K Run/Walk, you’re helping us go the distance with Appendix Cancer. This rare disease, on the rise worldwide, affects one in a million people each year. Lace it up and celebrate life against the odds!
San Antonian Sheri Doss is grateful to be alive. Wanting to give back to both her local and peer support cancer communities. In 2024, Sheri created the One in a Million 5K Run/Walk to celebrate her 60th birthday and life beyond Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP), closely related to appendix cancer. Sheri was diagnosed in 2021 with PMP, a rare disease affecting a small cross-section of the world - people of all ages, shapes, genders, and nationalities. After undergoing an intense lifesaving surgery known as CRS/HIPEC, her health returned due, in large part, to her daily walking routine. Sheri thrives because of her positive attitude, love for walking, and the online support she found through PMP Pals.
Net proceeds from the One in a Million 5K Run/Walk benefit PMP Pals, a global network of patients and caregivers living beyond an Appendix Cancer diagnosis, and related conditions like PMP which affect the gastrointestinal system, digestion, and nutrition. As you run/walk the course at McAllister Park, educational signage explains this rare cancer without a cure on the rise among young people under 40. Register today and lace it up for Appendix Cancer!

PACKET PICK UP:
September 11, 2025, 4:00 – 7:00 pm at REI (11745 I-10 Ste 110, San Antonio, TX 78230),
Race Day Packet Pickup at McAllister Park, starting at 7:00 am
Packets (shirts) that have not been picked up by the start of the race will be used as exchanges for others that were not able to get their desired size. No Holds.
PRICING:
10% group discount if you pay for 5 or more entries at one time.
5K, 1-Miler - Includes race shirt & finisher medal
Only 5K participants are chip timed and eligible for awards.
Virtual - Includes race shirt & finisher medal, but not eligible for awards.

PARTICIPATE VIRTUALLY:
Can’t join us in person? Virtual registrants receive an event shirt and finisher medal. You'll be able to print out a digital race bib, upload your virtual run times and print off a finisher certificate. Virtual race times can be uploaded up until midnight 9/30. (Not eligible for awards) You can pick up your race packet at Early Packet Pick Up or we will mail it to you for an additional $10 after the race. Packets will be mailed to addresses within the continental United States only. The earliest that virtual packets can be mailed out will result in them getting to you after the date of the race.
REFUNDS & SWAPS:
Any day you are part of the HOPE living beyond appendix cancer is priceless! In the spirit of this cancer fundraiser, we will not issue refunds. We're grateful for your financial support, as proceeds benefit PMP Pals Messages of HOPE support programs like 1-on-1 mentoring support, twice weekly online community meetings, an annual in-person meet-up, card-writing, and medical community outreach.
